Harmony hat

Hello!
I’m trying this new formula where I offer my patterns two ways. First in a paid version available on Ravelry for those who’d like the nice and well formated pdf file. Secondly, as a free pattern available on the blog! So that’s it, that’s the pattern!

*Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog by clicking the FOLLOW buttom in the bottom right corner of your screen! That way you’ll receive an email every time I share a new blog post. (not everyday, and always relevant!)

The Harmony hat

Textures and daintiness. That was my goal when I decided to go for this flowery pattern. I will let you decide if I succeeded or not. Either way, I really love the result. The lace section of this hat doesn’t compromise the warmth and the comfort, which is always nice when it’s cold outside.

Every round is written stitch by stitch, but if you want to challenge yourself, try making the lace section with the chart included at the last page. I hope you’ll enjoy crocheting this design. It goes pretty quickly, so you should be done in no time!

I can’t wait to see yours. I hope you’ll share your pictures with me!

Happy crocheting!
San xx

Material:
● a 3,75 mm hook (or required size to meet the gauge)
● 1 colour of fingering weight yarn (size 1)
I used 68 gr (240 m) of 80% merino and 20% nylon yarn from Sac’Amé in the colour “Abel”
● 1 stitch marker
● a yarn needle and a pair of scissors

Abbreviations (US terms):
● ch = chain
● sc = single crochet
● hdc = half double crochet
● dc = double crochet
● fpdc = front post double crochet
● bpdc = back post double crochet
● dc2tog = double crochet 2 together
● dc3tog = double crochet 3 together
● fpdc2tog = front post double crochet 2 together
● bpdc2tog = back post double crochet 2 together
● st = stitch
● slst = slip stitch

Gauge (not blocked):
22 dc X 13 rounds = 4 inches X 4 inches (10 cm)

Size:
One size for adult: 18” (46 cm) around, 9½” (24 cm) tall. Fits head of 21” (53 cm) to 23” (58,5 cm) of circumference but can be adjusted by using a different size hook.
Notes:
● Between parenthesis, at the end of each rounds, is the total of stitches made in that specific round. Chains aren’t included in that total.
● At step 2, you will be working in a continuous spiral. I suggest using a stitch marker to identify the first st of each round, moving it up as you go.
Fpdc2tog = Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back to front around the post (the body) of the stitch. Yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back to front around the post (the body) of the next stitch. Yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull though two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through all three loops on the hook.
Bpdc2tog = Yarn over, insert your hook from back to front to back around the post (the body) of the stitch. Yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over, insert your hook from back to front around the post (the body) of the next stitch. Yarn over, pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull though two loops on the hook, yarn over, pull through all three loops on the hook.
● During step 2, make sure not to make your front post and back post double crochet stitches too tight as to not pull down on your design.
● See below for a chart for the motif section.
● For a different size hat, try using a larger or a smaller hook.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Put that tail on a needle, go through each stitch around, and pull to close the opening.

Weave in your ends!

Block your hat, if possible. At least the lace section to give it some definition. No need to block it on a form. Simply lay it flat on a foam board, pin down the lace section, spray it with water and let dry. Then remove the pins and voilà!

And you’re done!! I hope you enjoyed this minimalist and textured hat. I just love the lace pattern. I feel like this design can fit with anything and everything. It’s just so pretty!
